Reflection:The Art of Going Over Your Life
"The Un-Examined Life is Not Worth Living"- Socrates
"If we would only give, just once, the same amount of reflection to what we want to get out of life that we give to the question of what to do with a two weeks' vacation, we would be startled at our false standards and the aimless procession of our busy days." - Dorthy Canfield Fisher
Do you spend time reflecting on your life? Do you enjoy reflecting on your past experiences?
Perhaps if we spent more time reflecting on our past experiences we would learn from more of our mistakes. Of course you don't want to dwell on the mistakes of the past if there is nothing to learn from these mistakes but often we find ourselves repeating our mistakes over and over again. However, if we spent more time thinking about what lessons could be learned, we wouldn't be doomed to repeat our own mistakes. Also if we spent time reflecting on the mistakes of others, we could learn from their mistakes as well. There is such a wealth of knowledge contained in both our experiences and that of others that often goes untapped. Making time to reflect upon our past is very important for the future.
